Ken Moroney AO APM, Former Commissioner, NSW Police Force
Ken Moroney was a career police officer with over 42 years-service to the community of NSW. Prior to his appointment to various executive positions, Ken was stationed in both metropolitan and rural centres of the State between 1973 and 1992. Post his appointment as Director, Police Recruit Training at the Police Academy, Goulburn (1987-1992), Ken was appointed to the position of Chief of Staff by Commissioner John Avery and reappointed to the role by Commissioner, Tony Lauer (1992-1993). He was appointed as the Assistant Commissioner, Education and Training (1993-1996), following which he was appointed by Commissioner Peter Ryan as the Commander of the City-East Metropolitan Region (1996-1999). This was followed by his appointment as the Deputy Commissioner, Specialist Operations (1999-2001), Field Operations (2001) and Senior Deputy Commissioner (2002). Following the resignation of Commissioner Ryan, Ken was appointed as the 20th Commissioner, NSW Police Force in 2002 until his retirement in 2007.
